That Switch Rods were 'invented' by a couple of master Double Rod builders in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

This is not correct. The fact is Bruce and Walker built the first Switch Rods in Britain back in the 60's. This was their Salmon and Sea Trout Hexagraph Rod, a beautiful rod, even by today's standards and a casters dream rod !

The Talon RA WMD Range of Double Handed fly rods.

 

14foot 9/10w 4pc and the very versatile little 12foot 7/8w 4pc Double Handed fly rod.

This group of Doubles were designed in Australia and built under contract to Talon RA's specifications.

 

The Talon RA WMD Double Handed fly rod has been years in the research, design and development. As a result, Talon RA had to have build a completely new blank, not just buy in a blank from some one elses lineup of Doubles, the all same except for the logo type of rod, like so many others, the only difference being the price.

The WMD Double is built from a very high modulus graphite, 58million, with lightweight advanced resins and finished in a beautiful deep Ocean Blue colour, the same matching colour and bindings/wrappings as the Talon RA Traveller series of single handed 9 foot rods.

Action, best described as XF, Extra Fast, for a Double.
High speed casting, yes, then this is the casting tool for you.

With the XF action comes a fast and crisp, very light weight rod that performs beyond what was once thought to be possible. And yet, still have a very responsive tip, a tip section that will allow you to fish a 6 pound tippet, with the 12 footer, a 8 pound tippet with the 14 footer or, with your increased skill levels even a 6 pound tippet on the 14 footer.

However, with both rods there is still ample butt and lower section strength to engage fish with a heavier tippet size.

The grips, only the shortest possible lengths have been used, so as not to dampen the rod's crisp action. Which is ideal for both Overhead and Underhand casting.

Then Talon reduced the epoxy binding finish down to the very minimum to reduce the weight, which help allow the rod to achieve it's amazing performance, a performance factor that will amaze you.

A Stainless Steel hook keeper has also been attached, to complete the rod.

To add a special touch, a logo has added to each side of each joint on the rod to enable easy lineup of the sections.

Then to make your travel easier, Talon RA decided on 4 sections, so you can simply drop the rod tube into your travel bag, to reduce the chance of light fingers, that just may other have found your new rod.

All rods come with a dark blue Cordura covered tube and liner.
Colour : Deep Ocean Blue.
Bindings : Contrasting Blue to match the rod's colour, the Hook Keeper is finished with the same blue bindings with a added metalic electric highlighter thread.
Winding Check : Pewter grey anodized aluminum.
Guides :
Strip guides x 2 : Over sized, again for higher line speed, Lightweight stainless feet/frames with aluminum oxide rings.
Snakes : Over sized for high line speed, super hard chrome.
Tip : Large Hayfork of super hard chrome
Reel Seat : Black coated machined aluminum with reel channel for the stability of larger reels, including double locking rings and 'o' ring to ensure that your reel doesn't move. Up locking, of course.
Grips : Beautiful High grade Portuguese cork.

12 foot 7/8w : Top grip 310mm, Bottom grip 100mm
14foot 9/10w : Top grip 340mm, Bottom grip 120mm

Designed casting loads : Mid load, between a Butt and Tip load, the average load, for the average caster. 12ft 7/8w 370grains - 14ft 9/10w 490grains for overhead or Underhand casting, for Spey type casts, this will depend on the caster and the type of cast.
Warranty : Lifetime against manufactures faults, to the original purchaser of the rod.
